FAQ's

Is the Course recognised?

Yes. Australian Customs Notice ACN 2006/12 advised that the course was approved as a course of study for a broker's licence, and that My Freight Career Pty Ltd was both qualified and approved to deliver the course.

What is the duration of the course?

We anticipate that students will complete the course in 18 - 24 months. However, as it is a Competency based course, some students may be able to complete it earlier if they can demonstrate Competency in a subject(s) at a faster rate.

Is this an on-line course?

No. The course is delivered in the classroom, face to face..

What are the class sizes?

We are limiting the number of students to 20. This ensures a higher level of learning outcomes and more personalized interaction between trainer and students.

How frequent are the classes?

Classes will be twice weekly, each session of three hours duration. The number of classes (blocks) required for each subject will vary depending on the level of technical training required.

How much support will the student receive?

As well as having access to a trainer during office hours, a trainer will be available online and where applicable and only for indentured trainees a follow up visit to the students' workplace to ensure the technical skills being developed in a classroom environment are being practically applied in the workplace. This will ensure true "competency".

Are there any student prerequisites?

Ideally, students should be working in a customs related role or department and have 12 months experience in that role.

What recognition does a student get when completing the course of study?

There are two main options for students to complete their studies. Either;

1-     By successfully completing the minimum number of Units of Competency required (11), whereby students will receive a
Statement of Attainment, or

2-     By successfully completing additional industry related Units of Competency, whereby students will attain a
Qualification. These additional units can be studied concurrently and will not affect the duration of the course completion.

Is there a benefit to employers for their employees completing the Qualification?

Yes, both in financial support, and broader employability and skills knowledge. For those eligible employees, the employer may be eligible for Federal Government funding up to $4000 plus GST. The additional units of competency allow students to gain a holistic approach to the international logistics industry incorporating brokerage knowledge and forwarding knowledge - important factors in customer satisfaction, employee retention and career path planning.

What if students have already started the course with another training provider? Can they enroll with My Freight Career for the remaining subjects?

Yes, myfreightcareer will recognise any completed subjects provided by another Registered training organisation. Students will need to supply a Statement of attainment from the training provider.
